Large Powerball and Mega Millions Jackpots to Win This Week; Know Your Limit

Two big jackpots are up for grabs in the next Powerball® and Mega Millions® drawings. Because of these high jackpots, the Nebraska Lottery reminds customers to set spending and time limits.

A string of drawings without a jackpot winner has grown the estimated Powerball jackpot to its highest level since October 2023. There have been 41 consecutive drawings since June 2 without a jackpot winner. This run has grown the estimated jackpot for the Saturday, September 6 drawing to $1.8 billion or $826.4 million with the cash option selected. This is the 2nd largest jackpot in the history of the game.

Mega Millions logoMega Millions has also seen its jackpot grow over the last few months. There have been 19 drawings since July 1 without a jackpot winner. The estimated jackpot for the Friday, September 5 drawing is $336 million or $151.3 million with the cash option selected.

The dual jackpot runs have produced some large Nebraska winners.

  • A $1 million Powerball winning ticket for the July 9 drawing was sold at Players Cafe, 619 N 114th Street in Omaha.
  • A $30,000 Mega Millions winning ticket for the August 12 drawing was sold at Mega Saver, 12005 Pacific Street in Omaha.
  • A $50,000 Powerball winning ticket for the August 20 drawing was sold at QuikTrip #580, 6045 L Street in Omaha.
  • A $50,000 Powerball winning ticket for the August 23 drawing was sold at Hy-Vee Fast & Fresh #6, 9601 Q Street in Omaha.
  • A $50,000 Powerball winning ticket for the August 23 drawing was sold at the Nebraska Lottery Events Trailer at the Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island.
  • A $50,000 Powerball winning ticket for the August 23 drawing was sold at Hy-Vee 1466, 14591 Stony Brook Blvd in Omaha.
  • A $50,000 Powerball winning ticket for the August 30 drawing was sold at Hy-Vee Food Store #4 (1388), 6001 Village Drive, Lincoln.
  • A $50,000 Powerball winning ticket for the August 30 drawing was sold at Arbor Mart, 1321 Central Ave, Nebraska City.

The largest Mega Millions jackpot on record occurred in August 2023 when one winner in Florida won a $1.602 billion jackpot. The largest Powerball jackpot on record occurred in November 2022 when one winner in California won a $2.040 billion jackpot.
