Greeley Man Wins $300,000 Playing Diamond Dollars
Jeremiah Ehlers of Greeley won $300,000 playing Diamond Dollars, the $30 Nebraska Lottery Scratch game.
Ehlers purchased his winning ticket at Greeley Rapid Stop at 101 W O’Neill Ave. in Greeley.
Ehlers said he’d been playing Scratch tickets with a coworker the night before his big win, but they weren’t having much luck and decided to call it a night.
“I joked that the next one was going to be the big winner,” he said. “I bought it the next morning and I was right.”
After scratching off the ticket, Ehlers said he had to scan the ticket two or three times before he could make sense of what he was seeing and had to sit down for a few minutes.
Right after scratching off the winning ticket on April 12, Ehlers said he wasn’t wasting any time getting the ticket to Lincoln.
“I thought, ‘I have to go right now,’” he said. “I drove straight all the way here.”
A $30 Scratch game, Diamond Dollars offered players a chance to win prizes from a free $30 ticket to $300,000. The chances of winning $300,000 were one in 128,000, while the odds of winning any prize were one in 3.24.
