Bellevue Woman Wins $30,000 Playing Fun 5s

Michelle Byerly of Bellevue won $30,000 playing the Fun 5s Scratch game from the Nebraska Lottery.

Byerly purchased her winning ticket at Kwik Shop #675 at 502 West Mission Ave. in Bellevue.

Byerly claimed her prize on August 28 at the Nebraska Lottery’s Lincoln office and said she’d bought the winning ticket the night before and scratched it in the parking lot.

“I went inside and double checked,” she said. “I asked, ‘Am I seeing this right?’”

After double checking, Byerly raced home and hid the winning ticket under her mattress for safe keeping until she could bring it to Lincoln.

“My house eats things,” she said.

With her win, Byerly is planning on taking a trip to Disney World with her sister, her daughter, her nieces and a friend. It’s something they’ve been talking about for months, she said, and now they’ll be able to do it.

A $5 Scratch game, Fun 5s offers players a chance to win prizes from $5 to $30,000. The chances of winning $30,000 are one in 120,000, while the odds of winning any prize are one in 3.55.
