Ames Woman Wins $1,000 Playing Crossword Inferno

Tia Mentzer of Ames won $1,000 playing Crossword Inferno from the Nebraska Lottery.

Mentzer purchased her winning ticket from Casey’s General Store, 821 S. Broad St. in Fremont.

While claiming her prize, Mentzer told lottery officials that she was having trouble sleeping when she scratched her winning ticket at 3:40 a.m. She plans to use her money on Christmas presents.

As $10 Scratch game, Crossword Inferno offers players the chance to win prizes from $10 to $100,000. The chances of winning $1,000 are 1 in 17,100 while the overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 2.71.
