Gering Woman Wins $50,000

January 31, 2005--A Gering woman took advantage of a Nebraska Lottery marketing offer and won $50,000 as a result.

Deborah Wilson received a mailing announcing the introduction of the new $5 Scratch game, The Price Is Right. A coupon in the mailer offered a free $1 Scratch ticket with the purchase of a $5 The Price Is Right ticket.

After redeeming the coupon at the local SunMart store on January 21, Wilson found that she had won two prizes. On the $1 ticket, she won a free $1 ticket. The $5 The Price Is Right ticket yielded a top prize.

Wilson matched two numbers in the second Showcase of the fifth game on the ticket (the last play area of the ticket), to win $50,000.

As she claimed her prize at Nebraska Lottery headquarters in Lincoln, Wilson said she and her husband, Mark, planned to use the prize for home improvements and some travel.

Each The Price Is Right ticket includes five games similar to those on the popular television game show of the same name.

Game 1, It's In The Bag, gives players three chances to match the BAG ITEM to YOUR ITEM to win the corresponding prize.

Game 2, Plinko, has nine prize slots on which it is necessary to reveal two playing chips to win the corresponding prize amount.

Game 3, Instant Scratch Bonus, offers three chances to win $5 by revealing The Price Is Right dollar symbol.

Game 4, Spin The Wheel, depicts a prize wheel with seven prize spots, and an arrow that points to the corresponding prize.

Game 5, Showcase Showdown, gives players two SHOWCASE chances to match prices with YOUR BID and the ACTUAL PRICE to win the corresponding prize.

In addition to two top prizes of $50,000 The Price Is Right offers three prizes of $1,000 and more than 110,000 other prizes between $5 and $100.

The odds of winning one of the top prizes are 1 in 180,000 and the overall odds of winning something on the game are 1 in 3.27.
