Lincoln Man Wins $20,000 Playing Mega Millions
Michael Buckner of Lincoln won $20,000 playing Mega Millions from the Nebraska Lottery.
Buckner purchased his winning ticket at Hy-Vee Food Store #2 (1386) at 1601 N 84th St. in Lincoln. The ticket contained five quick pick plays for the draws on July 10 and July 14.
He didn’t have to wait long, because one of the plays for Friday, July 10 matched four of the five winning numbers (02, 39, 44, 46, 56) and the Mega Ball (23). The built-in multiplier for that play was 2X.
With the Mega Millions jackpot rising every week, an increasing number of people are buying tickets, hoping for a piece of the July 24 estimated jackpot of $743 million (cash value $323.4 million). That makes it the 10th largest Mega Millions jackpot of all time.
The last Mega Millions jackpot was won on March 17, so the current $743 million jackpot has been growing for 36 drawings over the past four months.
Mega Millions is a multi-state jackpot game currently offered by 45 state lotteries, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands. The odds of winning $20,000 playing Mega Millions are 1 in 893,761 while the overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 24.
