Fremont Man Wins $230,000 Playing Nebraska Pick 5

William Freeman

William Freeman of Fremont won $230,000 playing Nebraska Pick 5 from the Nebraska Lottery.

Freeman purchased his winning ticket at Hy-Vee Food Store #1185 at 840 E 23rd St. in Fremont. The ticket contained five plays for the August 2 drawing, one of which matched that night’s winning numbers 10, 15, 21, 25 and 28.

He’s come close to winning big before, including a $5,000 winner on a Powerball ticket a few years back, but this is the first time Freeman’s hit a jackpot.

“I had to look back and forth between my ticket and the winning numbers about five times,” he said. “I called my son over to look and he did the same thing.”

Freeman said the win came at a great time because his house needs some repair work he’s been putting off.

“It’s nice to finally win something this big,” he said.

Nebraska Pick 5 is Nebraska’s unique Lottery game: all the proceeds from Nebraska Pick 5 stay in Nebraska, and all the winning tickets are sold in Nebraska at Nebraska Lottery Lotto game retailers. The odds of winning the Nebraska Pick 5 jackpot, which starts at $50,000 and grows by $10,000 each drawing that is not won, are 1 in 658,008 while the overall odds of winning a prize in the game, which has drawings seven nights a week, are 1 in 9.2.
