Crete Man Wins $70,000 Playing Nebraska Pick 5

Rodney Dewey

Rodney Dewey of Crete won $70,000 playing Nebraska Pick 5 from the Nebraska Lottery.

Dewey purchased his ticket at Crete Foodmart at 925 Main St. in Crete. The ticket contained one play for the February 12 drawing which matched that night’s winning numbers 02, 05, 07, 14 and 22.

Dewey said he’s been playing since the first Pick 5 drawing when he and his wife began playing their birthdays.

His wife passed away a few years ago, but Dewey said he still plays their numbers. They managed to match four out of five numbers a few times, but it’s been four or five years since the numbers came in.

“It was worth the wait,” Dewey said.

Nebraska Pick 5 is Nebraska’s unique Lottery game: all the proceeds from Nebraska Pick 5 stay in Nebraska, and all the winning tickets are sold in Nebraska at Nebraska Lottery Lotto game retailers. The odds of winning the Nebraska Pick 5 jackpot, which starts at $50,000 and grows by $10,000 each drawing that is not won, are 1 in 658,008 while the overall odds of winning a prize in the game, which has drawings seven nights a week, are 1 in 9.2.
