Florida Man On Road Trip Wins $200,000 Playing 50X the Cash
Humberto Alejandre of Morriston, Florida won $200,000 playing the 50X the Cash Scratch game from the Nebraska Lottery.
Alejandre purchased his winning ticket at Anderson Convenience Market 145 at 9501 S 145th St. in Omaha.
It was a broken down vehicle and a found penny that brought Alejandre to his winning ticket.
Alejandre used to drive semi-trucks across the country and he was missing the open road, so he decided to take a drive from Florida to Colorado. Right around Omaha, Alejandre started having some car trouble and decided to get a hotel for the night.
Feeling kind of bad about his car, Alejandre went out for a walk to clear his head. He noticed a shiny penny sitting face-up in the hotel’s parking lot and took it as a sign his luck was about to change.
Shiny penny tucked in his pocket, he walked to a nearby convenience store and bought himself one 50X the Cash Scratch ticket. He scratched it off at the counter using his lucky penny.
“I wasn’t sure if I was reading it right,” he said. “I had to go back to the hotel to get my glasses.”
He looked the ticket over and ran back to the convenience store to make sure he’d won what he thought he won. The clerk scanned his ticket and confirmed, yes, he won $200,000. Alejandre walked back to his hotel in shock.
“I felt so hot I started sweating,” he said. “I was so excited I had to turn the air conditioning way up.”
The first thing Alejandre is planning to do with his winnings is to get his vehicle fixed up and back on the road.
A $20 Scratch game, 50X the Cash offers players a chance to win prizes from $30 to $200,000. The chances of winning $200,000 are one in 140,000, while the odds of winning any prize are one in 3.05.
