Omaha Man Wins $50,000 Playing Powerball

Rome Thomas of Omaha won $50,000 playing Powerball from the Nebraska Lottery.

Thomas purchased his ticket at Quik Trip #587 at 4404 N. 72nd Street in Omaha. The ticket contained three plays for the August 4 drawing, one of which matched four of the five winning numbers (05, 21, 32, 36, 58) and the Powerball (14).

Thomas said he’s been playing Powerball since he turned 19 in November of 2020. He said he picks his own numbers and plays different sets of numbers each time he plays.

He’s planning on saving his winnings.

Powerball is a multi-state jackpot game currently offered by 45 state lotteries, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands. The odds of winning $100,000 playing Powerball are 1 in 913,129.18 while the overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 24.9.
