North Platte Woman Wins $44,000 Playing 2by2
Dorothy Thiem of North Platte won $44,000 playing 2by2 from the Nebraska Lottery.
Thiem purchased her two winning tickets from Kwik Stop #02 at 902 North Jeffers in North Platte. The two tickets each contained the winning Red ball numbers (15, 24) and White ball numbers (16, 17) from the September 10 drawing.
Thiem went to the Nebraska Lottery’s North Platte Claim Center to redeem her prizes and told officials that she’s won 2by2 before.
“I won in 2005, 2008 and 2011,” she said. “I was complaining that I was way overdue. This made up for it.”
Thiem said that she couldn’t wait until morning when she could claim her prize and had trouble sleeping until about 2 a.m.
Before buying her tickets, she’d thought about skipping this draw because she was watching something good on TV, she said, but decided to head to the store to buy a few just before 9 p.m.
Thiem said that she feels very grateful and very blessed to have won so often. She’s planning on paying off some bills and taking family on a trip with her winnings.
After this win, Thiem’s pretty sure her luck has something to do with the day of the week.
“It’s odd,” she said. “Each time I’ve won it was on a Tuesday. My two sons were born on a Tuesday. Tuesday must be lucky for me.”
The odds of winning the 2by2 top prize are 1 in 105,625. The overall odds of winning any prize in 2by2, which is also offered in Kansas and North Dakota, are 1 in 3.59.
