Atlanta Woman Wins $25,000 Playing Nebraska MyDaY
Jayne Ortgiesen of Atlanta, Nebraska won $25,000 playing Nebraska MyDaY from the Nebraska Lottery.
Ortgiesen purchased her winning ticket from Casey’s General Store #1800 at 420 West 4th St. in Holdrege. Her ticket contained five winning plays with the winning numbers 09/02/85 from the August 28 drawing.
Ortgiesen said she’d been playing the same numbers for about three days when she hit the jackpot. She usually plays her son’s birthday, but decided to switch it up.
When she discovered she won, just after the drawing results on Wednesday night, Ortgiesen said she knew she had to cash it right away. The Grand Island Lottery office was closed for the fair, so first thing Thursday she and her husband headed for Lincoln.
“I couldn’t sleep,” she said. “I was so excited.”
Ortgiesen said the money would be used to pay some medical bills.
MyDaY is a Nebraska Lottery Lotto game with a calendar theme. Players can win up to $5,000 by choosing a six-digit date for each $1 MyDaY play. The odds of winning the $5,000 top prize in MyDaY are 1 in 36,525, while the overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 8.17.
