2016 Annual Report Available
By November 1 of each year, the Nebraska Lottery is required by law to deliver its written annual report to the Governor and the Legislature. The report is a public record.
The 2016 Annual Report and Resource Guide (for the fiscal year that began on July 1, 2015, and ended on June 30, 2016) contains a number of notable highlights.
Operations
Changes in the leadership of the Nebraska Department of Revenue and the Lottery and Charitable Gaming Division had an impact on Lottery operations during fiscal year 2016. On June 6, 2016, Tax Commissioner Tony Fulton announced that Brian Rockey would be appointed Lottery and Charitable Gaming Division Director as of July 1. And a contract extension between the Nebraska Lottery and International Game Technology (IGT) will provide new benefits for the Lottery.
Product Developments
A record $1.5 billion jackpot run for Powerball generated big winners and buzz during the fiscal year. Sales for the Nebraska Lottery’s in-state jackpot game, Nebraska Pick 5, received a boost during the fiscal year due to a novel jackpot promotion. And Lotto voucher promotions drove registrations for the Lottery’s MVP Club loyalty program.
Strong Sales
Sales of all Nebraska Lottery games (Scratch and Lotto) for the fiscal year totaled $179.5 million.
Beneficiary Fund Contributions
Total contributions to Nebraska Lottery beneficiary funds passed $607 million with the June quarterly transfer. During the fiscal year, Nebraska Lottery beneficiary funds received a total of $42.8 million, with a record $14.4 million transferred in the April 2016 quarterly transfer.
