Gibbon Man Wins $50,007 Playing Powerball®

Shawn Sexson of Gibbon won a total of $50,007 playing Powerball® from the Nebraska Lottery.

Sexson purchased his winning ticket at Fresh Start Convenience in Alliance. The ticket contained four out of the five winning white ball numbers (30, 52, 57, 66 and 69) and the Powerball® number (03) from the May 4 drawing for $50,000.

Because Sexson purchase a multi-draw ticket for four drawings, his ticket also matched three white ball numbers from the May 11 drawing for $7, making his total prize $50,007.

While claiming his prize July 5, Sexson told Lottery officials that that winning that amount of money felt surreal. “You don’t believe it until you’re actually here (Lincoln),” he said. “And yes it’s that much money.”

The odds of winning $50,000 playing Powerball are 1 in 11,688,053, and the odds of winning $7 are 1 in 578. The overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 24.9.
