North Platte Man Wins $10,000 Playing Powerball

Jerome Johnson February 25, 2014 – Jerome Johnson of North Platte recently won $10,000 playing Powerball from the Nebraska Lottery.

There were more than 15,500 Nebraska Lottery winners in the Wednesday, February 12, drawings. Among these winners was Johnson, who purchased his winning ticket at Kwik Stop, 120 South Jeffers Street in North Platte. The two-play quick pick ticket contained one play with four of the five winning white ball numbers (36, 44, 49, 52, 57) and the Powerball number (1) from the February 12 drawing for $10,000.

While claiming his prize on February 18, Johnson told Nebraska Lottery officials that he learned he had won after seeing a post on the Nebraska Lottery Facebook page. “I saw there was a winner in North Platte, so I went to the Lottery website and checked the numbers,” said Johnson. “After I’d checked the ticket several times, I told my wife I’d won. She didn’t believe me.” Johnson plans to pay bills using his winnings.

Four hundred and forty-eight Nebraska Lottery players have won the $10,000 Powerball prize to date. The odds of winning $10,000 playing Powerball are 1 in 648,975, while the overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 31.8.
