Seward Man Wins $2 Million Playing Powerball Power Play®

Nebraska PowerballMay 13, 2013 – Lonnie White of Seward recently won $2 million playing Nebraska Powerball with Power Play.

With a $222 million jackpot up for grabs in the Wednesday, May 8 Powerball drawing, White stopped at Gas N Snaks, 536 Roberts Street in Seward to purchase a ticket. His three-play quick pick ticket contained one play that matched all five of the winning white ball numbers (21, 22, 26, 30, 57) from the May 8 drawing.

With a regular Powerball ticket, matching five white ball numbers results in a $1 million prize. Because White added the $1 Power Play option to his purchase, the $1 million prize was automatically increased to $2 million. This is the second $2 million Power Play winning ticket sold in Nebraska since Powerball was upgraded on January 15, 2012.

While claiming his prize on May 10, White told Nebraska Lottery officials that he learned he had won when he returned to Gas N Snaks the morning after the drawing. “I stopped by on my way to work to check my ticket,” said White. “When the clerk told me how much it was worth, I said, ‘Holy cow - I won!’ It was quite a surprise.” He plans to pay bills and donate to charity using his winnings.

The odds of winning $1 million playing Powerball are 1 in 5,153,633. Adding the $1 Power Play option, which does not affect the odds of winning, gives players the chance to play for enhanced prizes from $12 to $2 million. The overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 31.8.
