Stapleton Man Wins $20,056 Playing Powerball with Power Play
May 28, 2010 – James Story of Stapleton recently won a total of $20,056 playing Nebraska Powerball with Power Play.
For the May 15 drawing, Story purchased a five-play Powerball ticket at Kimber's, 68 Highway 83 in Stapleton. One play on the ticket matched four of the five winning white ball numbers (15, 21, 23, 28, 36) and the Powerball number (20) from the May15 drawing for $10,000. The remaining four plays on the ticket each matched three of the winning white ball numbers for $7 for a total prize of $10,028.
Because he added the $1 Power Play option to his purchase, Story’s $10,028 prize was automatically multiplied by the 2x multiplier for a total of $20,056.
The odds of winning $10,000 playing Powerball are 1 in 723,145, and the odds of winning $7 playing Powerball are 1 in 359. Adding the $1 Power Play option, which does not affect the odds of winning, gives players a 1 in 4 chance at multiplying their winnings between 2 and 5 times. The overall odds of winning any Powerball prize are 1 in 35.11.
