Omaha Man Wins $200,000 Powerball Prize

June 30, 2009 – Ervon McGinnes of Omaha recently won $200,000 playing Powerball from the Nebraska Lottery.

McGinnes is a regular Nebraska Lottery Powerball player who purchases tickets every week. For the Wednesday, June 10 drawing, he purchased a five-play quick pick Powerball ticket at Hy-Vee, 3405 Oakview Drive in Omaha. One play on the ticket contained all five of the winning white ball numbers (15, 26, 27, 42, 58) for a corresponding prize of $200,000.

Forty-three Nebraska Lottery players have won the $200,000 prize in Powerball to date.

McGinnes wasted no time in claiming his prize, arriving at Nebraska Lottery headquarters on the Friday following the drawing. He told Nebraska Lottery officials that he reacted with “disbelief” after checking the winning numbers on the Nebraska Lottery web site, nelottery.com, and realizing he had won the $200,000 prize. McGinnes plans to start a college fund for his grandson using his winnings.

The odds of winning $200,000 playing Powerball are 1 in 5,138,133 while the overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 35.11.
