Lincoln Man Wins $1,000 Playing Lucky Numbers

July 28, 2008 – Christopher Shinaut of Lincoln won $1,000 playing the $10 Scratch game Lucky Numbers from the Nebraska Lottery.

Shinaut purchased his winning Lucky Numbers ticket at Gas & Plus, 1301 South Street in Lincoln. Scratching the ticket, he revealed two matching numbers with a corresponding prize of $1,000.

There are four $1,000 prizes available in Lucky Numbers. Shinaut is the first person to claim a $1,000 prize to date.

While claiming his prize on July 25, Shinaut told Nebraska Lottery officials that he “had to look at the ticket five or six times” before he realized that he had won the $1,000 prize. He plans to use his winnings for a down payment on a new truck.

Lucky Numbers is the first hybrid ticket offered by the Nebraska Lottery that combines the features of a Scratch game with the opportunity to win a Nebraska Pick 5 Lotto jackpot. Lucky Numbers offers players the chance to win $1,729,500 in instant prizes from $10 to $150,000. The odds of winning the $1,000 prize in Lucky Numbers are 1 in 120,000, while the odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.33.
