Fast Mart offers up some of the biggest Scratch wins in Nebraska
When a Nebraska Lottery retailer sells a big winner, It’s a pretty big deal. When it’s multiple big winners, that’s huge. When it’s one guy hitting the wins at the same store, that’s enormous.
Over the past four years at Fast Mart in Columbus, the store has sold two $100,000 winning Scratch tickets to Tom Tworek of Columbus.
In August of 2021, Tom hit a $100,000 top prize on a Mega Crossword Scratch ticket. Then, less than a year later, Tom claimed a
Break the Bank Super Ticket $100,000 top prize on July 10 of this year.
Fast Mart, located at 3222 23rd St. in the center of Columbus, is a family run store. Owned and operated by Mike and Sara Gokie, Fast Mart offers all the standard convenience store fare like pop, beer, snacks and hot food, but they’re also making winners. And popcorn, the store’s got a popcorn popper full of buttery goodness.
Tom—who also won a $40,000 Scratch prize at a different Nebraska Lottery retailer in 2018—isn’t the only one winning big at Fast Mart.
In 2016, Mike Voss of Columbus won $6,000 on a Scratch ticket, and Tricia Korgel of Columbus won $200,000 that very same year playing a 20X Scratch ticket.
In fact, Fast Mart has sold numerous top prizes—not to mention multiple Scratch prizes of $1,000 or more—which makes it no wonder the store finds itself in the list of top Nebraska Lottery Scratch sales retailers almost every year.
And it’s not just Scratch, winners either. Last year the store sold a $5,000 MyDaY jackpot winner. In 2015 Columbus resident Donald Kiesel won $30,000 on a Powerball with Power Play Lotto ticket. And in June of 2020 Fast Mart sold a Pick 5 ticket that won someone $116,000.
Tom Tworek said Fast Mart’s now his lucky stop when he claimed his most recent $100,000 prize. It’s also where he discovered he’d hit it big yet again.
“I was standing there just looking at it, probably 400 times,” he said. “It’s a real good feeling.”
