Summer Jackpot Giveaway Recap
The Nebraska State Fair was the cherry on top of the sweet, delicious treat that was our summer and you better believe we were there to kick things off for the opening weekend. As is tradition, we hosted an event on the Bristol Stage Saturday, August 26. Throughout the summer, players entered their non-winning Summer Jackpot Scratch tickets online for a chance to be the lucky contestants who played for up to $50,000 at our Summer Jackpot Grand Prize event. Of the over 70,000 entries, six contestants were drawn at random throughout the summer to compete.
The weather was hot and so was the competition. Ok, it was more humid than hot. A quick glance at the competitors on the stage and it was clear to see they came to win. Carson Blackman of Paxton, From Papillion there was Jeanette Brezina and Debbie Rouse of Bellevue. Steve Petersen of Gordon, and Tamra Woodson of Chadron were unable to compete in the giveaway and were represented by proxies who duked it out in their sted.
All of the contestants were guaranteed to go home with at least $5,000. The big question that weighed on everyone’s minds was who was going to take home the grand prize of $50,000. The answer to that question became a little clearer at the end of each round of play. Tamra Woodson was the first contestant to go home with an extra $5,000. In the following round, Debbie Rouse nabbed herself $7,000. Steve Pedersen followed her with $8,000. The final three remained: Carson Blackman, Jeanette Breznia and Michelle Schmidt.
The penultimate round of play gave each contestants three spins of the Prize Wheel. The two contestants with the highest spin totals were able to move into the second round. Jeanette didn’t get to go to the final round but she did get to go home with $10,000. This left Michelle and Carson to go toe-to-toe.
The final round of the giveaway was an enormous $50,000 Jackpot scratch ticket. Hidden inside the play area was the word “Jackpot.” The person who revealed that would get to go home with the top prize. Carson and Michelle peeled away at the play area, going back and forth 14 times before the jackpot was revealed. In the end, it was Carson who took home the Grand Prize but I think it’s safe to say everyone on that stage was a winner.
