A Tale of Two Winners
Rick Torres of Eagle is the second winner of a 2017 Ford F-150 XLT 4×4 SuperCrew Flex Fuel truck in the 22nd edition of Nebraska Lottery’s $2 Truck$ & Buck$ Scratch game.
Rick recently purchased his winning Truck$ & Buck$ ticket at U-Stop, 3280 Superior Street in Lincoln. He was out running errands and stopped in the store where he purchased five Truck$ & Buck$ tickets. His wife called and asked if he would bring lunch home. While he sat in line at the drive-thru, Torres decided to pass the time by scratching his tickets. He didn’t scratch for long as the first one he played was a winner.
He immediately called his wife to tell her that he had won a truck. He was over the moon. “I think I won a pickup,” he said. There was a pause on the other end of the phone when Mrs. Torres responded. “Did you get lunch?” she asked.
Rick was incredibly excited and drove straight downtown to the lottery office to receive his prize. “I never did bring her lunch,” he said with a smile.
Unfortunately, we didn’t have the truck in our parking garage when Rick arrived, so we told him that we would meet him at the U-Stop where he bought his ticket the following Friday, February 17.
We had invited Foggy 98 to join in the festivities and by the time Rick had arrived to take delivery of his new vehicle, people were crowded around Froggy 98’s booth and our very own Prize Cube where players had the chance to grab as many Scratch ticket vouchers as possible in what can be compared to a whirlwind.
Rick was incredibly happy to see the truck in person.
“It’s amazing. It’s about the prettiest color. It’s gorgeous. It’s almost scary to drive because it’s so pretty,” he said. “You know who is going to throw a fit? My dog. She’s going to be sitting right up next to me in the front seat.”
While Rick was being handed the keys to his new truck, dozens of people were lining up for a chance to win at the Prize Cube. It wouldn’t be until a few days later when we would learn of yet another big winner connected to this event.
Adam Eickmeier of Lincoln won $6,000 from a Play Is Good Scratch ticket he had won at the second Truck$ & Buck$ presentation. Adam had taken the afternoon off work and was enjoying the great weather when he learned that the Nebraska Lottery was holding an event at U-Stop. He loaded up his dog and drove across town to enter to win a pack of Truck$ & Buck$ tickets. While he didn’t walk away with the tickets, Adam did walk away with some money he wasn’t expecting. When he walked into the Prize Cube his confidence wasn’t that high as he desperately grabbed at the fluttering pieces of paper. But, when the fan inside the cube turned off he had hands of lightning. When all was said and done he came out with 25 ticket vouchers.
If you want your chance to win a new Ford F-150, there are still three trucks left to win in Truck$ & Buck$. And even if you don’t win a new truck, you still might get a chance to play and win at a Truck$ & Buck$ winner presentation. As we always say, play is good, so go play!
