A 2by2 Winner and A Reminder To Check Your Numbers
An unwitting winner of 2by2 emerged over Labor Day Weekend as Justin Strope of Hallam won $22,000 playing 2by2 from the Nebraska Lottery.
Strope bought the winning ticket from Kwik Shop #642 located at 3939 A Street in Lincoln. He received the ticket as a free play. The ticket contained the winning Red ball numbers (12,25) and White ball numbers (6,22) from the September 2 drawing for $22,000.
When he came into our offices to claim his prize, Strope admitted he didn’t know he had won the Friday, September 2 drawing until checking his tickets at the Casey’s General Store located at 900 South Street in Lincoln the following Tuesday. He merely stopped to get something to drink and checked his tickets. When he found out he had won, he was excited, but so were the clerks who knew Strope and promptly gave him some crisp high fives.
The funny thing about the win is that Strope, who checks the winning numbers on his Nebraska Lottery app every night, didn’t know he had won until scanning the tickets. The irony was not lost on him as he explained that while looking at his app Friday night, he had a revelation at the sight of the red numbers. “I looked at the numbers Friday and saw ’12’ and ‘25’ and I thought ‘I should play those numbers.’” The oversight, Strope explained, was that the ticket containing those numbers was a free play he didn’t consider checking.
With the extra money, Strope plans to pay bills and save. He also plans to continue to play 2by2. “I won’t stop playing until my numbers hit,” he said. “Because of my 2by2 budget, I buy less Powerball.”
You read that right: Strope has a budget set for his Lottery-playing pastime. He used to allocate more to Powerball but says he focuses more on 2by2 and Nebraska Pick 5 because he thinks their respective jackpots would be more manageable in regards to his lifestyle. Whatever the reason may be, he now knows how the 2by2 jackpot fits into his life. We hope he gets the opportunity to see how Pick 5 treats him.
