Cedar Rapids Man Wins $100,000 Playing Turquoise Treasures
Ronald Buettner of Cedar Rapids won $100,000 playing the $10 Scratch game Turquoise Treasures from the Nebraska Lottery.
Buettner is no stranger to winning playing Scratch tickets, having won $150,000 on the $15 Platinum Card game in May 2012. He purchased his winning Turquoise Treasures ticket at Cedar Rapid Stop, 615 South 2nd Street in Cedar Rapids. Scratching the ticket, he revealed matching numbers for a corresponding prize of $100,000.
There were three $100,000 top prizes available in Turquoise Treasures. Buettner was the third person to claim a top prize in the game.
While claiming his prize on July 17, Buettner told Nebraska Lottery officials that he was enjoying his second big lottery win. “If you don’t play, you can’t win. And I’m having a pretty good time winning,” said Buettner. He said he didn’t realize that he had won the top prize at first after scratching off the ticket. After a quick double-check, he found a number he had missed the first time, which ended up winning him the top prize.
Turquoise Treasures was a $10 Scratch game from the Nebraska Lottery that offered players the chance to win $2.1 million in cash prizes from $10 to $100,000. The odds of winning the top prize in Turquoise Treasures were 1 in 100,000, while the overall odds of winning any prize were 1 in 3.28.
