Fremont Man Wins First Doubled Nebraska Pick 5 Jackpot

February 24, 2010 – A Fremont man has won the first double jackpot in the Nebraska Pick 5 Jackpot Doubler promotion. Richard Cattlett of Fremont won a total of $308,000 playing Nebraska Pick 5 from the Nebraska Lottery.

During the month of February, the Nebraska Pick 5 Jackpot Doubler promotion doubles the advertised jackpot amount every time it is won. Cattlett purchased his winning Nebraska Pick 5 ticket for the February 16 drawing at Amoco Short Stop, 2650 North Rawhide Drive in Fremont. The two-play quick pick ticket contained one play with all five of the winning numbers (1, 11, 21, 22, 30) from the February 16 drawing for the $154,000 jackpot.

Because of the Jackpot Doubler promotion, Cattlett’s prize was doubled to $308,000. He is the first person to claim a double jackpot in this year’s Nebraska Pick 5 Jackpot Doubler promotion. One hundred and ninety-six Nebraska Lottery players have won the Nebraska Pick 5 jackpot to date.

While claiming his prize on February 18, Cattlett told Nebraska Lottery officials that he learned he had won after checking his ticket at Amoco Short Stop. “I didn’t believe it until the clerk showed me the amount on the lottery terminal,” he said. Cattlett plans to pay bills using his winnings.

Nebraska Pick 5 is Nebraska's unique Lottery game: all the proceeds from Nebraska Pick 5 stay in Nebraska, and all the winning tickets are sold in Nebraska at Nebraska Lottery Lotto game retailers. The odds of winning the Nebraska Pick 5 jackpot, which starts at $50,000 and grows by $4,000 each drawing that it is not won, are 1 in 501,942. The overall odds of winning a prize in the game, which has drawings six nights a week, are 1 in 8.

The Nebraska Pick 5 Jackpot Doubler promotion continues through February 27, 2010.
