Iowa Man Wins $50,000 Playing World Series of Poker®

February 8, 2010 – Thomas Craig of Centerville, Iowa won $50,000 playing the $5 Scratch game World Series of Poker from the Nebraska Lottery.

Craig purchased his winning World Series of Poker ticket at Quik Pik, 2010 Bell Street in Fremont. Scratching the ticket, he revealed five cards in Table 2 that, when combined, beat the Champion’s best hand for a corresponding prize of $50,000.

There are three $50,000 top prizes available in World Series of Poker. Craig is the first person to claim a top prize to date.

While claiming his prize on February 1, Craig told Nebraska Lottery officials that he was “nervous and excited” to win the $50,000 top prize. He plans to pay bills using his winnings.

World Series of Poker is a $5 Scratch game from the Nebraska Lottery that offers players the chance to win $1,017,500 in cash prizes from $5 to $50,000. The odds of winning the $50,000 top prize in World Series of Poker are 1 in 100,000, while the overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.40.
