Columbus Woman Wins $35,000 Bonus Crossword Prize

February 3, 2010 – Diane Prokopec of Columbus won $35,000 playing the $3 Scratch game Bonus Crossword from the Nebraska Lottery.

Prokopec purchased her winning Bonus Crossword ticket at Joe & Al's Grocery, 2304 Tenth Street in Columbus. The ticket contained 10 complete words for the $35,000 top prize.

There were three $35,000 top prizes available in Bonus Crossword. Prokopec was the third person to claim a Bonus Crossword top prize in this edition of the game.

While claiming her prize on January 25, Prokopec told Nebraska Lottery officials that at first she thought she had won $1,000. “It took a while to realize what I had won,” she said. “It was a shock.” Prokopec plans to pay for some work on her home using her winnings.

Bonus Crossword was a $3 Scratch game that offered players the chance to win $5,619,600 in cash prizes from $3 to $35,000. The odds of winning the $35,000 top prize in Bonus Crossword were 1 in 960,000 while the overall odds were 1 in 3.39.
