Spalding Woman Wins $35,000 Playing Word Search

October 28, 2009 – Margaret Valasek of Spalding won $35,000 playing the $3 Scratch game Word Search from the Nebraska Lottery.

Valasek purchased her winning Word Search ticket at White Star Oil Company, 305 North Sixth Street in Albion. Scratching the ticket, she revealed 13 complete words for a corresponding prize of $35,000.

There were two $35,000 top prizes available in Word Search. Valasek was the second person to claim a $35,000 prize in the game.

While claiming her prize on October 22, Valasek told Nebraska Lottery officials that she purchased her ticket during a recent shopping trip. “My son wanted bacon for breakfast, so I went to Albion to pick some up and decided to buy some tickets,” she said. Valasek stated that it was “pretty wild” to win the $35,000 top prize. She has no definite plans for her prize at this time.

Word Search was a $3 Scratch game from the Nebraska Lottery that offered players the chance to win $979,400 in cash prizes from $3 to $35,000. The odds of winning $35,000 playing Word Search were 1 in 240,000 while the overall odds of winning any prize were 1 in 3.57.
