Aurora Man Wins $126,000 Nebraska Pick 5 Jackpot

May 27, 2009 – Ronald Spence of Aurora recently won $126,000 playing Nebraska Pick 5 from the Nebraska Lottery.

For the May 20 drawing, Spence purchased a single-play Nebraska Pick 5 ticket at Pump & Pantry, 1304 Q Street in Aurora. The ticket contained all five of the winning numbers (6, 8, 14, 19, 23) from the May 20 drawing for the $126,000 jackpot.

One hundred and seventy-three Nebraska Lottery players have won the Nebraska Pick 5 jackpot to date.

Spence wasted no time in claiming his prize, arriving at Nebraska Lottery headquarters the morning following the drawing. He told Nebraska Lottery officials that he was “surprised” to win the jackpot prize. Spence learned he had won after seeing the winning Nebraska Pick 5 numbers in the Grand Island Independent newspaper. He plans to pay for some home repairs and save for retirement using his winnings.

Nebraska Pick 5 is a unique Nebraska Lottery game: all the proceeds from Nebraska Pick 5 stay in Nebraska, and all the winning tickets are sold in Nebraska at Nebraska Lottery Lotto game retailers. The odds of winning the Nebraska Pick 5 jackpot, which starts at $50,000 and grows by $4,000 each time it is not won, are 1 in 501,942 while the overall odds of winning a prize in the game are 1 in 8.
