Beatrice Woman Wins $5,000 Playing Shark Bait

Sandra OltmanSandra Oltman of Beatrice won $5,000 playing the Nebraska Lottery’s Shark Bait Scratch game.

Oltman purchased her winning Scratch ticket at Sun Mart, 1815 East Court Street in Beatrice. Oltman says she often purchases two Scratch tickets at a time. She had noticed most stores were out of Shark Bait.

Shark Bait was a $1 Scratch game where players matched their numbers to winning numbers and received the corresponding prize. While claiming her prize on April 16, Oltman told Nebraska Lottery officials was so surprised that she called a friend to look at her ticket and verify that she won. The odds of winning $5,000 playing Shark Bait were 1 in 240,000, while the overall odds of winning any prize were 1 in 3.78.
