Lincoln Man Wins $5,000 Playing Mega Millions

Allen BellAllen Bell of Lincoln won $5,000 playing Mega Millions from the Nebraska Lottery.

There were more than 16,000 Nebraska Lottery winners in the Tuesday, December 30, 2014, drawings. Bell purchased his winning Mega Millions ticket at U-Stop, 7100 Pioneers Boulevard in Lincoln. The ticket contained four of the five winning white ball numbers (3, 7, 44, 63, 67) and the Mega Ball number (12) for a corresponding prize of $5,000.

Twenty-one Nebraska Lottery players have won the $5,000 Mega Millions prize to date.

While claiming his prize on January 2, Bell told Nebraska Lottery officials that he learned he had won after returning to U-Stop and checking his tickets. “I think the clerk was speechless when they scanned it,” said Bell. “I said, ‘You’re taking an awfully long time checking that ticket.’” He has no definite plans for his prize.

Mega Millions is a multi-state jackpot game currently offered by 46 lotteries across the United States. The odds of winning $5,000 playing Mega Millions are 1 in 739,688, while the overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 14.7.
