Twenty Years of Marriage, 20,000 Reasons to Celebrate
An article was recently posted to this blog about how Nebraska Lottery Scratch and Lotto tickets should and should not be used as holiday gifts. As one lucky player recently found out, they also make great anniversary gifts.
Kristy Sherk of Humboldt received her winning Multitude of Money ticket from her husband Mike who purchased the ticket while they were out and about. He purchased the ticket as an early 20th anniversary present, he didn’t know he had just purchased a winner.
Kristy realized she had something special pretty quickly. Initially, she thought the ticket netted her $1,000, but as she continued to scratch, she learned that wasn’t the case. The couple drove down the road as Kristy continuously scratched the ticket. “Mike, there’s another thousand,” she said as her husband drove. “There’s another thousand… There’s another thousand…” This continued until Kristy realized she had won $20,000.
The couple will celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary January 6. As far as what they have decided to do with the prize money, Kristy thinks they should look into getting a new car. As cold as it has been, maybe one with heated seats might be nice.
