Nebraska Lottery September Update

TRUCK ROARS TO LIFE FOR GIVEAWAY WINNER

In front of a large crowd, 15 semifinalists in the Truck$ & Buck$ Second-Chance Giveaway gathered on August 26 at the Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island to find out who would drive away with a 2012 Ford F-150 XLT 4x4 SuperCrew Flex Fuel truck and a tailgate grill package.

After a series of elimination rounds, two finalists remained in the giveaway drawing. Paul Wathen of Hastings and Wayne Bockman of Grand Island took turns selecting keys from a covered container. Only one of the six keys in the container would start the Ford F-150. Wathen and Bockman each made an attempt to start the truck, but the truck remained silent. After drawing another key, Wathen attempted to start the truck again. With a roar the F-150 started, surprising both the crowd and the truck’s new owner.

Wathen, the Grand Prize winner, received a 2012 Ford F-150 XLT 4x4 SuperCrew Flex Fuel truck with a tailgate grill package, and a $100 gift card from the Nebraska Ethanol Board. The truck prize is valued at $47,000, which includes a cash payment to the winner for costs associated with ownership and state and federal withholding paid by the Nebraska Lottery.

Five second-tier winners received $1,000 cash:

• Matthew Ortega of Grand Island;
• John Baden of Seward;
• Daniel Rasmussen of Omaha;
• Ivan Durham of Hershey; and
• Wayne Bockman of Grand Island.
