Cozad Man Wins $35,000 Playing Bonus Crossword

John StrohmyerJohn Strohmyer of Cozad won $35,000 playing the Nebraska Lottery’s $3 Scratch game Bonus Crossword.

Strohymyer purchased his winning ticket at Pump & Pantry, 604 Lincoln Highway in Cozad. Strohmyer says he often purchases tickets there, usually playing crossword and bingo-themed Scratch games.

There are nine $35,000 top prizes available in Bonus Crossword. Players win by matching letters to words in the crossword field. Top prizes are won by matching 10 words.

While claiming his prize on June 8, Strohmyer told Nebraska Lottery officials that he purchased his ticket on Saturday, meaning he would have to wait until Monday to claim his prize. In the meantime, he kept his ticket in a locked box.

Bonus Crossword is a $3 Scratch game from the Nebraska Lottery that offers players the chance to win $8.4 million in cash prizes from $3 to $35,000. The odds of winning the top prize in Bonus Crossword are 1 in 480,000, while the overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.40.
