Lincoln Woman Wins $35,000 Playing UNO

Concheta EsparzaOctober 21, 2014 – Conchetta Esparza of Lincoln won $35,000 playing the $3 Scratch game UNO from the Nebraska Lottery.

Esparza purchased her winning ticket at U-Stop, 110 West O Street in Lincoln. Scratching the ticket, she revealed matching cards forming a complete row with a corresponding prize of $35,000.

There are three $35,000 top prizes available in UNO. Esparza is the second person to win a top prize to date.

While claiming her prize on September 22, Esparza told Nebraska Lottery officials that she purchased her ticket on the Friday prior, and that it was difficult waiting to claim the prize until Monday. “I had to have a lot of patience over the weekend,” said Esparza. “It was hard not to tell anyone that I’d won.” She plans to pay bills using her winnings.

Based on the popular card game, the $3 UNO Scratch game offer players the chance to win $936,100 in cash prizes from $3 to $35,000. The odds of winning the $35,000 top prize are 1 in 160,000, while the overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.69.
