North Platte Man Wins $54,000 Playing Nebraska Pick 5

Darrin Reeves August 30, 2013 – Darrin Reeves of North Platte recently won $54,000 playing Nebraska Pick 5 from the Nebraska Lottery.

There were more than 6,000 Nebraska Lottery winners in the Thursday, August 1 drawings. Among these winners was Reeves, who purchased his winning ticket at Big Red Liquor, 1421 East 4th Street in North Platte. The two-play quick pick ticket contained one play with the winning numbers (2, 19, 20, 24, 33) from the August 1 drawing for the $54,000 jackpot.

Two hundred and eighty Nebraska Lottery players have won the Nebraska Pick 5 jackpot to date.

While claiming his prize on August 5, Reeves told Nebraska Lottery officials that he learned he had won after a friend told him a winning ticket was sold at Big Red Liquor. “When I head those numbers, I thought, ‘No way,’” said Reeves. He plans to pay bills using his winnings.

Nebraska Pick 5 is Nebraska's unique Lottery game: all the proceeds from Nebraska Pick 5 stay in Nebraska, and all the winning tickets are sold in Nebraska at Nebraska Lottery Lotto game retailers. The odds of winning the Nebraska Pick 5 jackpot, which starts at $50,000 and grows by $4,000 each drawing that it is not won, are 1 in 501,942. The overall odds of winning a prize in the game, which has drawings six nights a week, are 1 in 8.
