Lincoln Man Wins $1 Million Powerball Prize

Nebraska PowerballMay 23, 2013 – Roger Cook of Lincoln recently won $1 million playing Nebraska Powerball.

Cook purchased his winning ticket at Super C, 3202 South 10th Street in Lincoln. The quick-pick ticket contained all five white ball numbers (2, 11, 26, 34, 41) from the May 15 drawing for $1 million. This is the fifth million dollar winning ticket sold in Nebraska since Powerball was upgraded on January 15, 2012.

While claiming his prize on March 22, Cook told Nebraska Lottery officials that he is an occasional Powerball player who waits until the jackpot exceeds $100 million before buying tickets. He learned he had won after returning to Super C to check his tickets. “Several people told me that a winning ticket was sold at Super C, so I went back and checked my tickets,” said Cook. “I was pretty happy when the clerk said I had the million-dollar ticket.” He plans to pay bills and build a new garage using his winnings.

The odds of winning $1 million playing Powerball are 1 in 5,153,633. The overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 31.8.
