Papillion Man Wins $40,000 Playing Powerball Power Play®

Jeffrey LaFond May 2, 2013 – Jeffrey LaFond of Papillion recently won $40,000 playing Nebraska Powerball with Power Play.

LaFond purchased his winning Powerball ticket at Casey’s General Store, 609 Magnolia Avenue in Papillion. The quick pick ticket contained one play with four of the five winning white ball numbers (01, 36, 40, 52, 53) and the Powerball number (20) from the April 10 drawing for $10,000.

Because LaFond added the $1 Power Play option to his purchase, his prize was increased from $10,000 to $40,000.

LaFond wasted no time claiming his prize, arriving at Nebraska Lottery headquarters the day after the drawing. He plans to set up a college fund for his children using his winnings.

The odds of winning $10,000 playing Powerball are 1 in 648,976. Adding the $1 Power Play option, which does not affect the odds of winning, gives players the chance to play for enhanced prizes from $12 to $2 million. The overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 31.8.
