Brainard Man Wins $50,000 Playing Dark Chocolate

May 1, 2013 – David Havlovic of Brainard won $50,000 playing the $5 Scratch game Dark Chocolate from the Nebraska Lottery.

Havlovic purchased his winning Dark Chocolate ticket at Stop Inn Liquor & Foods, 1510 Fourth Street in David City. Scratching the ticket, he revealed matching numbers with a corresponding prize of $50,000.

There are three $50,000 top prizes available in Dark Chocolate. Havlovic is the second person to claim a top prize to date.

While claiming his prize on April 10, Havlovic told Nebraska Lottery officials that he “couldn’t believe it” when he scratched off the winning ticket. “I only buy tickets occasionally, so it was a surprise,” he said. Havlovic plans to pay bills and buy a hot tub using his winnings.

Dark Chocolate is a $5 Scratch game that offers players the chance to win $1.2 million in cash prizes from $5 to $50,000. The odds of winning $50,000 playing Dark Chocolate are 1 in 120,000, while the overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.43.
