Iowa Man Wins $100,000 Playing Black Pearls

March 9, 2010 – Dennis Prokopec of Carter Lake, Iowa, won $100,000 playing the $10 Scratch game Black Pearls from the Nebraska Lottery.

Prokopec purchased his winning Black Pearls ticket at Bucky's, 2901 North 72nd Street in Omaha. Scratching the ticket, he revealed matching numbers with a corresponding prize of $100,000.

There are three $100,000 top prizes available in Black Pearls. Prokopec is the first person to claim a top prize to date.

While claiming his prize on March 2, Prokopec told Nebraska Lottery officials that he “checked the ticket several times” before he realized he had won the $100,000 top prize. Prokopec plans to pay bills and purchase a new vehicle using his winnings.

Black Pearls is a $10 Scratch game from the Nebraska Lottery that offers players the chance to win $2,108,000 in cash prizes from $10 to $100,000. The odds of winning $100,000 playing Black Pearls are 1 in 100,000, while the overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 2.98.
