Grand Island Man Wins $17,000 Playing Sapphire Blue 7’s

March 5, 2010 – Hui Pan Cheng of Grand Island won $17,000 playing the $2 Scratch game Sapphire Blue 7’s from the Nebraska Lottery.

Cheng purchased his winning Sapphire Blue 7’s ticket at Willman's Bottle Market, 1201 South Locust Street in Grand Island. Scratching the ticket, he revealed matching symbols with a corresponding prize of $17,000.

There were two $17,000 top prizes available in Sapphire Blue 7’s. Cheng was the second person to claim a top prize in the game.

Sapphire Blue 7’s was a $2 Scratch game that offered players the chance to win $624,600 in cash prizes from $2 to $17,000. The odds of winning $17,000 playing Sapphire Blue 7’s were 1 in 240,000, while the overall odds of winning any prize were 1 in 3.79.
