York Man Wins $10,000 Powerball Prize

February 8, 2010 – Christopher Heins of York recently won $10,000 playing Powerball from the Nebraska Lottery.

There were more than 22,000 Nebraska Lottery winners in the Saturday, January 30, drawings. Among these winners was Heins, who purchased his winning Powerball ticket at the Pump & Pantry, 109 Lincoln Avenue in York. The quick pick ticket contained five plays. One play on the ticket contained four of the five white ball numbers (6, 26, 35, 47, 48) and the Powerball number (21) from the January 30 drawing for $10,000.

Two hundred and seventy-one Nebraska Lottery players have won the $10,000 Powerball prize to date.

Heins wasted no time in claiming his prize, arriving at Nebraska Lottery headquarters the morning following the drawing. Heins told Nebraska Lottery officials that he learned he had won after returning to Pump & Pantry and checking his tickets. He stated that he was “speechless” when he realized he had won $10,000. Heins plans to pay bills and purchase new golf clubs using his winnings.

The odds of winning $10,000 playing Powerball are 1 in 723,145, while the overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 35.11.
